Hello! My name is Jocelyn Yang, I am a second generation Hmong American woman and fashion scholar. The nickname “Jocii” (pronounced “Jaw-see”) was given to me by my grandmother and family. I strive to create innovative, inclusive and sustainable designs for the modern woman.
I began my fashion design journey in high school when I learned how to sew in a Home Economics class. After seeing women in my life struggle with societal standards of body image, I was inspired to pursue fashion design as a career and completed my bachelor’s in Fashion Design. I strive for the fashion industry to celebrate women of all body shapes and sizes.
My designs are inspired by my Hmong cultural identity, social justice, sustainability and women who inspire me everyday. Through my work, I hope to create fashion that celebrates women, preserves Hmong history/culture, and is kind to the environment.
